Shortened term for 3-year SSL certificates

June 14th, 2018

Since February 20, 2018, SSL certificates can only be ordered for a maximum term of 2 years. For certificates with a 3-year term that have been ordered before the above mentioned date, the term will automatically be reduced to the maximum term of 27 month because CAs consider a reissue to be a new order to which the new term regulation applies.

In order to regain the original term of 3 years another reissue needs to be carried out 825 days before the expiration date of the original 3-year-term certificate. Then, the subtracted time will be added to the new term.
